The Growing Brain Initiative with CCS Children

The building blocks for a healthy brain and a responsible adult start in the early years of life. The infant and toddler years are critical in shaping the foundations of a child’s personality. Thus, in the pursuit of providing the best possible development opportunities for the infant and toddlers in their care, Concordia Children’s Services sought a partnership with Dr. Angel Belle Dy, MD, MBA, founder of The Growing Brain PH.

For ten years, Dr. Angel Belle Dy has been an early childhood development advocate. She completed her postgraduate studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the UC Davis MIND Institute and is also a certified trainer under Zero to Three for the Growing Brain curriculum.

The Growing Brain PH utilizes the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), recognized internationally as an evidence-based approach to understanding the impact of experiences, particularly trauma, neglect, and adversity, on the developing brain. NMT is an excellent fit for assessing toddlers in a Residential Care facility and greatly helps prevent untoward behaviors from manifesting because of the situation they experienced.

With Dr. Angel Belle Dy and The Growing Brain PH as partners, CCS will further assess and provide appropriate interventions to ensure that the children in their care will eventually be well-adjusted with their forever-loving families.
