After 3 years, birth mother and our baby Aayanah reunite

The long wait is over. Aayanah was referred to CCS after she was found living on the streets. The child was malnourished and filled with scabies-like scars throughout her body. At that time, nobody knew her and she was given the name Alberta. CCS provided extensive care and processed the child for adoption. Little did they know, Aayanah’s mother, Maricris, is looking for her all over Manila.

Then, after two years of longing and with some luck, as if like a blessing from God, Maricris was able to reach out to CCS. She had been looking for the child after Aayanah’s father took her from home and left her on the streets.

CCS took the time to work with Maricris, pointing out areas of her capability as a parent where she can improve. Maricris was very enthusiastic and cooperative with CCS. She had a stable job, and she was able to put up enough savings and provide a house that Aayanah can go home to. After a few months, Maricris was able to pass the Parental Capability Assessment as conducted by the Local Government. That allowed CCS to finally reunite the child to her mother.

Tears flowed as Maricris finally got the custody of Aayanah back last August 23, 2019. Aayanah also seemed very excited to go home with her mother. Their story serves as a reminder that with enough assistance and perseverance, a family can bring themselves together despite the consequences of poverty.
