A Bright Future Awaits

In this generation of millennials, many issues and challenges are being posed to the youth of today. With the different influences such as pop culture and social media, they tend to be easily preoccupied by such, thus losing sight of what really matters in life. But this girl’s story is different.

Kateleen became a sponsored child in CCS back in 2007 when she was in Grade 2. Ever since, she has been performing well in school despite her family’s circumstances. Many times, her educational needs were compromised due to insufficient income of her father. Even so, she does not let that hinder her from persevering in school.

She was able to pursue her education through the Educational Assistance through Sponsorship Program of CCS. In 4th year high school, she was diagnosed with a skin disease called psoriasis. CCS extended medical assistance but her condition affected her attendance in school. Being in the pilot section, the demands and expectations from them are high. Nevertheless, she managed to cope and was able to maintain good academic standing while also excelling in extra-curricular activities. Likewise, she did not let her health condition affect her confidence and self-esteem. She remains to be an optimistic and cheerful young lady.

Having graduated from high school with outstanding performance, her sponsor decided to continue supporting her education until she finishes college. She is now a 3rd year Broadcast Communication student at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, where she passed the entrance exam with a grade of 91. This previous school year, she was awarded as a Presidential Lister for her high grades. She continues to display diligence towards her studies until now. She wants to give her family a better life and give back to the community one day, hence her determination to achieve her dreams and rise above her circumstances remains unwavering. With her positive outlook, perseverance and faith in God, a bright future indeed awaits her.
