Reunited finally

Nath has been with Concordia Children’s Services since he was a month old. His mother is currently under the care of an institution treating her mental health. Truthful to their mandate, CCS has exhausted all possibilities of kinship care for Nath. After a while, CCS has traced Nath’s biological father at the faraway province of Surigao. Nath’s father is unaware of his institutionalization but is very willing to take care of the child. Communication and coordination has been a challenge because of distance. It took about a year to prepare the necessary documents and prepare the family but nonetheless, with God’s perfect timing, Nath’s father along and the Surigao City Social Worker were able to flew to Manila on April 2018.

The day became very joyful, blissful and at the same time full of relief as Nath’s father met him for the first time. He said that he was looking for Nath and his mother all this time. Surprisingly, Nath is very calm and comfortable with the company of his father. Nath did not cry and was observably composed for a two-year old. He played and let his father carried him all throughout the day. Everybody in CCS was very happy and a little celebration was held.

On that day, Nath and his father was reunited, another child was given the opportunity to have a permanent family. Their tears and smiles will forever be etched on hallmarks of CCS. It is a reminder of why we need to do everything that we can for every child. Alas, the CCS family is very happy for Nath.

“Hindi ko po akalain na makikita ko pa ang anak ko (I didn’t think that I would be able to see my son)”. – Nath’s father.
